Dr. Shiloh Heesch is a dedicated sports chiropractor with a passion for helping athletes of all levels perform at their best and recover from injuries efficiently. Originally from rural New Effington, South Dakota, Dr. Heesch grew up on a farm alongside his parents and two older sisters. As a three-sport athlete in his high school years, he gained a deep appreciation for the importance of physical health and wellness.
Dr. Heesch attended Dakota State University, where he played one season of college football while earning a degree in Exercise Science, graduating in 2016. Driven by a desire to learn more about the human body and how to optimize physical performance, he went on to pursue a Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Northwestern Health Sciences University (NWHSU) in Bloomington, MN. He graduated with a focus on Sports Medicine, equipping him with specialized knowledge and techniques for treating athletes and active individuals.
After earning his Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Heesch returned to South Dakota where he gained valuable experience working in private practice. During this time, he also served as the team chiropractor for the Sioux Falls Snow Leopards, a women’s football team, and the Sioux Falls Skyforce, a professional men’s basketball team. These experiences allowed him to refine his skills and work with athletes at the professional level.
Upon returning to Minnesota, Dr. Heesch continued his professional development as a Sports Chiropractic resident at NWHSU. In this role, he has had the opportunity to work with athletes from high school sports, college teams—including athletes at Augsburg University—and national-level competitors across the country. His work includes providing injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance optimization for athletes, as well as treating individuals who lead active lifestyles.
Dr. Heesch’s treatment philosophy is centered around the belief that “the game of life is a sport”—that everyone, regardless of their level of activity, deserves to receive the highest standard of care. Whether treating professional athletes, weekend warriors, or those just looking to stay active, Dr. Heesch is committed to improving function, reducing pain, and helping his patients live life to the fullest.
Dr. O’Brien grew up in Hastings, MN where he participated in many sports that sparked his interest in health and the body. He went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science at Dakota State University and graduated in 2016. He then moved back to Hastings, MN to attend Northwestern Health Sciences University where he graduated with his Doctor of Chiropractic in 2021.
Dr. O’Brien’s expertise is utilizing exercise therapies to solve dysfunction, furthermore a strong understanding of health and wellness in combination with muscle therapy techniques. He has a strong understanding of sports injuries and has a lot of experience working with athletes. He has a passion for treating patients who are motivated to better their health. Through communication, listening, and learning he can develop tailored treatments that fit the patient’s goals.
